After reading some of the news regarding Angie Zapata, and some of the opinions about it. One thing seems to escape peoples attention….
Its his story.
A story is only as good as the person who tells it, and he is on trial for murder.
It is entirely possible he wanted to kill her, and take her property to boot, and believed that the death of a transgendered woman whom he considered one of the “gay things” that “need to die”, would not see a genuine investigation, or be loved, cared for and, missed. He was even brazen enough to drive her car.
Any thing he and his associates have said is suspect, and likely for his benefit.
I really can’t see this as a simple crime of sudden passion, and seems more consistent with a premeditated crime against a person for whom he felt nothing but contempt.
Her story will never be told in her own words, she has been permanently silenced.
Her family stated she consistently disclosed her transgender status and was honest about herself, I really doubt he was just as honest and disclosed his criminality and hatred for anyone he considered “gay”.
The only things that are known are, he killed her, and profited from doing so.
Some day we may know exactly what happened, for now it is wrong to criticize, or judge Angie Zapata based on a prepossessed statement by someone looking to excuse himself.
My condolences to her family, friends, and anyone who felt victimized by this crime. I share in your sorrow.
“Strength and Happiness”
